Herbert "Frankie" Franklin Matthews

Mr. Herbert “Frankie” Franklin Matthews, 67, of Bunnlevel, North Carolina passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025. He was born on October 5, 1957 in Dunn, North Carolina, to the late Bennie Junior Matthews and Lurene Keith Culick Matthews. In addition to his parents, Frankie was also preceded in death by his brothers, William Dorcy Matthews, Bennie Junior Matthews, and Herbert Larry Matthews.

Frankie always enjoyed cooking large meals for his family, especially on the holidays. One of his favorite past times was watching football with his beloved dog, Rebel. His favorite team was the Miami Dolphins.

Frankie is survived by his wife, Diane Matthews, of the home; daughters, Diane Kreh and husband, Chris, Pamela Lackey, and Angela Matthews; son, Christopher Matthews; stepdaughters, Bridget Pollard and husband, Keith, and Casey Townsend and husband, Brandon; 8 grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Paige and husband, Craven, Lurene Benson, and Nancy Hughes and husband, Willie Ray Hughes; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 PM Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home in Lillington. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Bill Altman officiating. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park in Lillington.

The family will be using Dutch Iris florist in Dunn.
