Former North Carolina resident Henry Fletcher Cummings passed away peacefully at his daughter's home in Lillington, North Carolina, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
Mr. Cummings was born on February 8, 1938, to the late James Cummings and Sallie Green Cummings.
Henry was a man of few words who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, and camping with his family. No day was complete without a cup of coffee or his snuff.
Henry dedicated 54 years to his career, retiring twice during his working life. He first retired from Tobacco Growers and later from North Carolina Iron Works.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Janice Hunt Cummings, and his sister, Geneva.
Henry is survived by five sisters: Bonnie, Bertha, Marie, Pat, and Exie; six children: Tammy, Monica, Junior Ray, Linda, Brenda, and Johnny; as well as many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Cassandra, Kylie, Kayla, Courtney, De'Angelo, Jonathan, and Airrion for their unwavering love, compassion, and devoted care throughout Henry's illness.
Henry will be remembered for his quiet strength, steadfast work ethic, and the love he shared with his family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
