Helen Delane (McArtan) McDonald

Mrs. Helen Delane McArtan McDonald, 90, of Lillington passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Emerald Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lillington. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late James Franklin and Eva Mae Canady McArtan. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Eddy” Ray McDonald; brother, Frank McArtan and sister, Sue Byrd.

Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt.  She was a faithful and active member of Lillington United Methodist Church where she served as the “matriarch” of the church.

Helen is survived by her son, Franklin Ray (Laura) of Canton, Ga; daughter, Delane Johnson (Jim) of Garner; grandchildren, Brandon McDonald of Atlanta Ga, Bryce McDonald (Cassie) of Cumming, GA, Megan Martin (Carl) of Angier, Connor Johnson (Deanna) of Pea Ridge, AR and Crissa Johnson (Robyn) of Conway, AR; great grandchildren, Hudson, Layla, Denver and Joelle; sisters, Joyce Harkey (Bob), and Shirley Willoughby, brothers, Doug McArtan, and Alvin McArtan (Charlotte); and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 PM Wednesday, January 3, 2024, in the Lillington United Methodist Church fellowship hall. A funeral service will follow in the sanctuary at 2:00 PM with Reverend Kent Miller and Dr. Elton Hendricks.  A burial will follow in Westview Cemetery in Lillington.
