Harold Murchison Lanier

Harold Murchison Lanier, 88, passed away November 21, 2025.  He was born June 27, 1937 in Harnett County to the late Carlos V. Lanier and Mary Murchison Lanier along with three brothers: James Avon Lanier (deceased), Carlos Wayne Lanier (deceased), and Kenneth Larry Lanier.  He is survived by his wife, Dencie Brown Lanier, daughter of the late Earl and Cavie Brown.

He attended DeVry Technical Institute and NC State University while obtaining an Associate Degree in Applied Science and a Degree in Electrical Engineering.

He served in the US Army in Germany and the US Air Force during the Cuban Missile crisis. 

He worked for Goodyear/Kelly Springfield Tire and Rubber Co. in Fayetteville for 28 years as Manager of the Engineering Department.

He attended Antioch Baptist all of his married life and served as a Deacon for many years.  Harold’s favorite pastimes during his life were building houses, quail hunting, and flounder gigging along the Atlantic Coast.

A graveside service will be held at Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.  The family will receive friends one hour prior in the church sanctuary.  The family requests no visitors at the home at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be made to Antioch Baptist Church in his memory.
