H.C. "Johnny" Hogue Obituary

Mr. H.C. “Johnny” Hogue, 81, of Lillington passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at his home. He was born in Ritchie County, WV. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Craig Hogue and Mae Hogue Satterfield; stepfather Burl Satterfield; brother, Edwin Hogue. Johnny liked to hunt, fish and spent endless hours flea marketing and yard selling. He established the family business, Hogue Electric Co., Inc., and retired after 40 years. Johnny was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and served on various committees. He was also a member of Lillington Masonic Lodge #302, Harnett County Shrine Club, and a charter member of the Boone Trail Emergency Services. He loved his family, the community and was lovingly known as “Pops”. 

Johnny is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Byrd Hogue of the home; sons, Carl Hogue of Lillington, Lyle Hogue and wife Brenda of Lillington; daughter, Tracey Haire and husband Randy of Spring Lake; favorite granddaughter, Anna Rose Hogue; sister, Jean Cronin and husband Keith of Harrisville, WV; and a large extended family. 

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Mamers with Rev. Robbie O’Quinn officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Antioch Baptist Men, P.O. Box 525, Mamers, NC 27552 or the Harnett County Shrine Club. 

In accordance with current North Carolina COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home requests that everyone in attendance practice social distancing and wear a face covering.
