Griffin "Griff" Bryant, Jr. Obituary

Griffin “Griff” Jefferson Bryant, Jr. of Hampstead passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, October 20, 2025. He was born in Bennettsville, SC to the late Griffin Jefferson Bryant, Sr. and Barbara LaRue Maynard Bryant.

In addition to his parents, Griff was preceded in death by brothers-in-law Amos Yow and Lynwood Hardwick.

When Griff was 11 years old, he moved to Lillington due to his dad's work transfer with Becker Sand and Gravel where he attended Cape Fear Christian Academy, Harnett Central High School and Staunton Military Academy in Virginia, meeting and making lifelong friends.

Griff began his career with Gregory Poole Equipment Company in Raleigh, dedicating 33 years of service as a heavy equipment mechanic and later becoming shop supervisor at the Fayetteville branch.

Griff was a great man, loved by so many. He loved life, family and friends. You could always count on him being the heartbeat of every occasion, having the grill smoking with a delicious meal, and ice in the cooler.

Griff was a NASCAR fan, Black #3 Dale Earnhardt Sr. His friends always knew where he could be found on the weekends- either at the track or in front of the TV. Everyone was always welcome. Griff loved the water, boating, skiing and fishing.

To his family, he was the calm and greatest life partner, brother, father and friend anyone could have. Not many men can handle four sisters. To his friends, Griff was always there for each and every one.

After retirement, he and Debbie moved to the North Carolina coast to his “little piece of paradise”.

Survivors include significant other Debbie Bryant of the home, son Griffin Jefferson “Jeff” Bryant III of Wilmington, step-daughter Lorie Melvin (David) of Lillington, granddaughters Lilly and Marlee Dubois of Lillington, sisters Mary Anne Yow of Orlando, FL, Barbara Hardwick, Patricia Bolton, both of Murrells Inlet, SC, Laura McDonald (Frankie) of Canton, GA, nieces and nephews Allison Conti of Las Vegas, NV, Lindsay Weger and husband Caleb (Cora, Lucy) of Wendell, NC, Eric Yow of Orlando, FL, Kris Hardwick (Lisa, Kinsley) of Chesterfield, SC, Matt Hardwick (Dayana, Mason, Madison) of Conway, SC, Brandon McDonald of Avondale, GA, Bryce McDonald (Cassie, Layla) of Cumming, GA. Griff is also survived by his beloved Husky, Holly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Collins Lake, off Fulton Lane, in Lillington.  The family requests all attending to be dressed in casual clothing, according to weather as this will be an outside service, just like Griff would have done.
