Geraldine McAuley Obituary

Mrs. Geraldine Dickens McAuley, 93, of Lillington passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington. She was born in Lee County, the daughter of the late Malcom and Beulah Womack Dickens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John McAuley; 3 brothers, Junior Dickens, Hal Dickens, Wayne Dickens; sister, Beulah Howington. She loved baking cakes and watching westerns, especially Gunsmoke. Geraldine enjoyed spending time with her family.

Geraldine is survived by her 2 daughters, Peggy Vuncannon and husband Jerry of Lillington, Vicky Key and husband Larry of Lillington; 2 sons, Michael McAuley and wife Sheila of Smithfield, Timothy McAuley of the home; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Johnny Dickens of Lillington; 3 sisters, Hazel Smith of Lillington, Brenda Smith of Lillington, Faye Banton and husband Percy of Virginia; many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, October 11, 2021, at Christian Chapel Church with Pastor Harry Thomas and Michael McAuley officiating. Burial will follow in Cool Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery in Broadway. The family will receive friends at the cemetery after the graveside service.

In accordance with current North Carolina COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home requests that everyone in attendance practice social distancing and wear a face covering.
