Mr. Gerald Myrick, 81, passed away on Thursday evening, November 18, 2021, at Vidant Duplin Hospital in Kenansville. Gerald was born in Lillington on November 30, 1939, and always considered Harnett County to be his home. He was born to the late James Durwood and Crystal Fogle Myrick. In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his sister Barbara “Bobbie” Johnson of Monroe.
Gerald is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Dana Bullock Myrick, who lives in Wallace, and his two daughters, Angie Fussell (and husband Dave) of Wallace, and Aimee Merritt (and husband Greg) of New Bern. Gerald was a doting “G-Da” to three grandsons ~ Grayson Myrick Fussell, Casen Gregory Merritt and Baylor Gerald Merritt.
Gerald was a manager at Southern National Bank (later BB&T) from 1965 until his retirement in 2000, after 35 years of dedicated service. He loved nothing more than spending hours grilling and cooking for those he cared for, he was a great and loyal friend to so many, and a devoted husband and father that truly and deeply loved his family.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday November 24 at 1PM at O'Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home, 1310 S. Main Street in Lillington. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the memorial service.
