George Worthington Williams, Jr.

George Williams, 80, died at his home in Fuquay-Varina on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. He was born on July 22, 1944, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to George Worthington Williams and Jennie Vena Campbell Williams. Raised in Dunn, he graduated from Dunn High School.

George proudly joined the US Army on August 27, 1965, where he served his country with honor.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Williams; his children, Renee Whittenton and her husband David of Dunn, NC; Charles King and his wife Carly of Orlando, FL; Rebecca Bowers and her husband Chris of Murrells Inlet, SC; and grandchildren, Senior Airman Nathan Stanley, USAF, Minot, ND; Tyson King, Eddie Bowers, Scarlett King, and Kennedy King. He is also survived by his sister, Jennie Margaret Williams, and his brother, David Williams. George was predeceased by his sister, Linda Lee.

A dedicated deacon at Harmony Baptist Church in Bunnlevel, George was deeply committed to his faith and community. He cherished his time with his grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 26, beginning at 6:00 PM, the family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 PM prior to the service at Harmony Baptist Church in Bunnlevel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harmony Baptist Fellowship Hall at 3566 HWY 210 South, Bunnlevel, NC 28323.
