George Zoltan Turi, 52, of Lillington, NC, passed away suddenly, Saturday, March 1, 2025 at his home.
George was born September 26, 1972 in Washington, D.C. to the late Nandor “Fred” and Carol Finnegan Turi. He was a 1996 graduate of the University of Maryland (Go Terps!) and was a Validation Engineer currently employed with QCS on assignment at FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies. Prior to this role, he spent most of his career working at Pfizer.
George is survived by his wife, Alison Langston Turi; son, Hayden Turi; daughter, Kaitlyn Turi; sister, Anita Wright and her husband, William; nephews, William and Nathan Wright; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernest and Benida Langston; sister-in-law, Rebecca Langston Thiry and her husband, Brad; nieces, Brianna and Brooke Thiry; and their beloved family cat, Jessie.
George was full of life, a devoted husband and father, and enjoyed many activities with his family and friends. He loved traveling to the NC beaches and mountains, as well as to many tropical locations. In 2024, he and his family took a special trip to Italy, where they made invaluable memories. George was an avid scuba diver, and shared his love of diving with his son, Hayden. Most recently, George took on the role of one of the loudest cheerleaders while watching his daughter, Kaitlyn, play volleyball (Let’s Go 2-1!). He enjoyed going to amusement parks and riding roller coasters with both children. He loved live music and going to concerts with Alison, friends, and family. George was affectionately known as “Uncle J” by his nieces, Brianna and Brooke. George loved grilling and cooking out for his family and friends and could often be found lounging by the pool with an IPA or bourbon. He was a jack of all trades, always working on home improvement projects, installing the latest technical gadgets, and even performing his own oil changes. He was genuinely a big, goofy kid at heart, and his beautiful smile and infectious laugh will truly be missed.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm Friday, March 7, 2025 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 1310 S. Main St., Lillington, NC 27546. The family will receive friends 1:30pm – 3pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
