G. Emery Hobbs

Mr. Gerald Emery Hobbs, 74, passed away at his home on Wednesday May 22, 2024. He was born and raised in Bunnlevel, NC; graduated from Lillington High School; and attended Methodist College. He was a lifelong farmer, and self-employed accountant for 45 years. Emery bought his first feeder calves at 12 years old and raised cattle most of his life. He was a dedicated member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he first met his wife, Cathy, and served as a deacon there for over 40 years.

Emery is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Cathy Thomas Hobbs of the home; his daughters, Susan James (Michael) of Morrisville, NC, Karen Hobbs of Lillington, NC and Allison Willey (Shawn) of Angier, NC; grandsons, Caleb and Carson James, Bradley and Jack Willey, and granddaughter, Adalyn Willey. He is also survived by brothers, Rodney F. Hobbs (Roxanne) of Pawleys Island, SC, Alan C. Hobbs (Cheryl) of Bassett, VA, Marion B. Hobbs (Ann) of Bunnlevel, NC, sister-in-law, Gail Smith (Ken) of Piedmont, SC, brother-in-law, Gerald Thomas (Julie) of Sanford, NC, sister-in-law, Mary Jo Hargrove (Wayne) of Broadway, NC; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald F. and Annie Rose Hobbs of Bunnlevel, NC, brother-in-law, Sherwood F. Thomas of Broadway, NC and grandson, Lucas P. Willey of Fuquay-Varina, NC.

Funeral services will be held at Harmony Baptist Church, Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tommy Honeycutt, Pastor Jerry Parsons, and Pastor Dudley Neal officiating. A burial will follow the service at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Bunnlevel. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 10:00-10:45 AM and other times at the home.
