Frances "Polly" Johnson Genthe

Frances Johnson Genthe (“Polly”), age 80, of Broadway, passed away at home peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2025. Born October 26, 1945, to the late Wade and Sadie Johnson, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

A lifelong resident of Broadway, North Carolina, Polly lived a life marked by strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Genthe; her brothers Rex Johnson, Larry Johnson, and John Allen Johnson; and her sister Nancy Pope.

She is survived by her brother Clark Johnson and by her three children: Allen Genthe (Donna), Diane Genthe, and Wade Genthe (Tammy).

Polly was a proud and loving grandmother to Samantha Godfrey (Murphy), Jessica Preston, Courtney Genthe, Joshua Genthe (Tory), Kasey McLamb (Hunter), Emily Genthe, and Austin Genthe. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Macie Preston, Sophia Lowe, Langston Godfrey, Bransyn Preston, Emery Godfrey, and Jackson Genthe.

Polly will always be remembered for her gentle spirit, her deep love for her family, and the many ways she touched the lives of all who knew her.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, December 14, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Harnett Memorial Park, with Rev. Doug Houston officiating.

Pallbearers: Murphy Godfrey, Ethan Dale, Hunter McLamb, Steven Johnson, Joshua Genthe, and Austin Genthe.
