ALL SERVICES FOR MRS. BETANCOURT HAVE BEEN CANCELLED. A MEMORIAL SERVICE MAY BE HELD AT A LATER DATE. PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR ANY UPDATES.
Frances Thomas Betancourt, age 93, died after a long and remarkably healthy life. Born and raised in Harnett County, on the Cape Fear River, she later graduated from Peace College, married Manuel Betancourt and moved to Washington DC, where she clerked at the U.S. Court of Appeals. Fran was mighty proud of her North Carolina roots, and she returned to Raleigh to raise her family. She formed deep and lasting bonds of friendship through her love of bridge, golf and the North Raleigh community where she lived for fifty years.
Fran's devotion to family sprung from her parents, Clarence "Pap" and Essie Thomas and an abiding love for her nine siblings Harold, Oker Lee, Odell, Ray, Clarence "Tommy", Noralene "Ninky", Shirley, Ann and Danny. Her greatest joy was her children, Randy, Kenny, Terri and Patrick and her grandchildren Manny, Leigh, Ethan and Adrian.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024 beginning at 11:00 A.M. at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to: Western Wake Young Life, PO Box 595, Apex, NC 27502. https://westernwake.younglife.org/
