Evelyn Nan Mangum Heath

Mrs. Evelyn Nan Heath, 82, of Fuquay-Varina passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Rex Holly Springs Hospital. She was born in Harnett County, NC, the daughter of the late John Ed Mangum and Kathleen Mangum. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years James Michael “Mike” Heath, as well as siblings, Doris Mangum Moore, Lila Mangum Fuquay, and John Ed “Jay” Mangum.

Nan graduated from LaFayette School in 1961 and later graduated from Piedmont Bible College with a Bachelor’s degree in Religious Education. She had a long career as a teacher and caregiver of young children, retiring from SAS Institute Child Care Center after 21 years. She was a nurturing and loving teacher, mother, nana, sister, and aunt. Everyone loved Nan and Nan loved everyone. She expressed her love through her cooking, sewing, care taking, and the meaningful homemade gifts she gave. Nan will be remembered for her love of God as well as her love of family, friends, animals, and flowers.

Nan is survived by her two sons, Brian Heath and his wife Laura of Lillington, Barek Heath of Fuquay-Varina, her three granddaughters, Breanna, Courtney, and Sarah Beth Heath, and sister, Sandra Mangum Schumann. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home in Lillington. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Rawls Baptist Church Cemetery in Fuquay-Varina with Rev. Scott Yow officiating.
