Elby Dulaney Obituary

Elby Ervin Dulaney, 80, went to his heavenly home on July 1, 2026.  Born February 1, 1946 in Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina.  He was the son of the late John Irvin Dulaney and Delola Hickman Dulaney. 

Elby survived his sisters: Celestial Delaney Sessoms, Catherine Lee Delaney Spradling, and Delores Ann Delaney Angelico; and his brothers: William August Delaney, Floyd (Buck) Delaney, and Baby Elby Ervin Delaney.

After graduating from Massey Hill High School, Fayetteville, NC, in 1964; Elby served in the United States Air Force 1964-1968 as a Security Police (nuclear weapons and airplanes), stationed mostly at Bitburg Air Base, Germany; Elby protected F-102 Delta Dagger, 525th Fighter Squadron, and 36th Tactical Fighter Wing.

September 1965, Elby was licensed to preach the gospel, Eifel Bible Baptist Church, Albach, Germany.  In March of 1972, Elby was ordained into the ministry from Bible Baptist College, Springfield, Missouri, in Theology.

Elby is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Brown Dulaney, native of Conway, SC; married April 1981 (45 years).

Elby was married to Vonda Lee Wilson Dulaney, Fayetteville, NC, until her passing June 4, 1980 (1965-1980).

Elby is also survived by two daughters and their families, Teresa Michelle Dulaney; Ginger M. Bergemann (Eric), along with 5 grandchildren.

Elby retired from Caroline Telephone & Telephone/Sprint/Embarq as residential technician.  He also served 5 years at Pittsboro Christian Village, as Maintenance Supervisor.  Elby was a faithful and loyal servant; served over 52+ years and in multiple functions of the church; pastored small church(s), assistant pastor, teacher, church song leader, scripture reader, and greeter.  He was a student of the Word of God, expository preaching.  At the age of 16, he accepted Christ as his Personal Saviour; Cumberland Baptist Church, Fayetteville, NC.  At the age of 19, he rededicated his life to Christ, while he was serving in the USAF/Germany.

Elby was also a proud member of the American Legion.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 10:30 AM (doors open at 10:00) at Northview Baptist Church located at 7455 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, NC 28311. A committal service with military honors will be held at 12:00 PM. at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Boulevard, Spring Lake, NC 28390.
