Edward "Pat" Patterson O'Quinn

Edward "Pat" Patterson O'Quinn, 89, of Lillington, passed away, Sunday, February 1, 2026 at Westfield Rehabilitation and Health Center in Sanford, NC. In addition to his parents Pat was preceded in death by his wife Una Mae Holder O'Quinn; brothers Cecil, Earl, Ralph, and Joe Bailey O'Quinn; and sisters Betty Tyson and Lucille Brown.

Pat always enjoyed the Boone Trail and Spring Hill Communities and remained active as long as he could. His favorite activity was to go to "The Grill" for breakfast and visit with the regulars. He was an avid reader and could discuss any topic with anyone. He always stressed the importance of a good education and strongly encouraged us to focus on academics. He enjoyed sports and particularly loved UNC. Eddie would always leave him a list of upcoming ballgames and the channels he could find them on. Had a great love of music and enjoyed singing in the Spring Hill Choir for many years. Also, Pat sang in a men's gospel group for quite some time.

Pat adored his 3 grandchildren - Quinn, Jackson and Harrison, and was so proud of their accomplishments. He and his late wife, Una were such a very important part of their grandchildren's lives from the time they were born, they really helped shape each of their lives. As grandparents they supported the boys in every way from being caregivers/babysitters when they were young to attending every sporting event, academic event and every big moment in their lives as they were growing up. Quinn, Jackson and Harrison affectionately referred to their granddaddy as "BUD" even though that was not any part of his name. He was so well known to their friends that they called him Bud as well and his great grand children now do the same.  

He was so happy he got to meet his 7 great grandchildren. As he held each one for the first time he would say "that's a fine baby". "Wouldn't Una have loved this baby?" Hope he is telling Mama all about them right now. Visiting him the last few months he would ask about each family member individually every single time; family was always important and his first priority.  

Pat is survived by son Eddie O'Quinn (Carol); daughter Alisa Wicker (Dennis); grandchildren Quinn Wicker (Kaitlin), Jackson Wicker (Meredith), and Harrison Wicker; great grandchildren Hayze, Reece, Ella June, Finn, Zeke, Mac, and Clare.

A celebration of life will be held Friday February 6, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. at Spring Hill United Methodist Church with Dr. Rev. Bobby Rackley and Rev. Terry Willlams officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the sanctuary.
