Dorothy Katherine Blanchard Page Obituary

Mrs. Dorothy Katherine Blanchard Page, 102, of Lillington, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

She was born in Harnett County to the late Brantley B. Blanchard and Lessie Lee Hilliard Blanchard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Thurman Page; her son, Jimmy Phillip Page; her sisters, Charlotte Jean Blanchard, Cora Lee Tysinger (& Ray), and Emily Sue Adams (& Raythell); her brothers, Charles Blanchard (& Hortense), Rudolph Blanchard (& Nora), and Wayne Blanchard (& Betty); her son-in-laws, Charlie Lyles, and Larry Tingen; her great-granddaughter, Vanessa Page.

Dorothy was a woman of deep and unwavering faith. She loved the Lord above all else and cherished her church family, faithfully attending services until her 101st year, even after losing her eyesight. She was a devoted prayer warrior, lifting up her family, friends, and anyone in need. She found great joy in studying God’s Word and listening to her favorite pastors, both on the radio and in person.

Her love for her family was evident in everything she did. She expressed it through prayer, sharing God’s Word, cooking, and offering help wherever it was needed. She lovingly helped raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and even in her final days, her face would light up at their visits.

Dorothy was known for her compassion and quiet strength. She never complained and welcomed everyone into her home with warmth and generosity. Everyone who knew her loved her.  She also had a special love for her community, often visiting those who were sick or shut in and taking them food, always looking for ways to care for others.  Though she lost her eyesight, she never lost her sense of humor, her love for others, or her steadfast faith in God.

During World War II, she worked at the post office at Fort Bragg and later farmed alongside her husband, whom she loved dearly and faithfully cared for during his illness. She was an exceptional cook and baker, widely known in Harnett County and beyond for her famous yeast rolls. She was also a talented seamstress and quilter, often sewing clothes for her children and others. Dorothy had a love for gardening, growing vegetables for her family and tending her flowers with care. She also enjoyed shopping and especially loved finding a good bargain. She took great pride in caring for her home and loved ones—though it was known that her hospitality did not extend to pets, especially dogs and cats.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Janet and Ben “Butch” Gay, and Ann Lyles; her grandchildren, Dwight & Julie Carson, Jennifer & Brandon Wood, and Melissa Tingen; her great-grandchildren, Victoria & Triston Hendrix, Mason Carson, Ryan Wood, Katelyn Wood, and Aiden Blaschak.

Dorothy’s legacy of faith, love, and service will live on in all who knew her.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her many caregivers for the kindness, love, & attentive care shown to Dorothy.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 AM Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Pleasant Union Christian Church. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Dr. Greg Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park in Lillington.
