Ms. Doris Johnson Peebles, 87, of Lillington passed away Friday, September 8, 2023 at her home. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Chesley and Arlie Mae Wester Johnson. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her brothers, Aaron Johnson, Sr., John Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Larry Johnson, sisters, Jessie Canady, Florine Penny, Edith Mangum. Doris was an avid gardener and loved books about home décor and gardening. She maintained the gardens her mother created and added to them each year. She loved to watch her birds and spend time outdoors. Doris lived and passed in the home that she loved, cherished, and spent most of her life in.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Brenda Setzer of Stella, NC; son, Johnny Peebles, Jr. of Hubert, NC; 2 grandchildren, Paul Setzer of Raleigh, Jason Setzer of Fuquay-Varina; great-grandson, Strom Setzer; sister, Ramona Bethune of Bunnlevel; many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, September 14, 2023 at her home.
