Mrs. Doris Coleman Langdon, 92, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Green Leaf Care Center in Lillington. She was born December 3, 1930, daughter of the late William Lawrence Coleman and Blanche Bolton Coleman of Bunnlevel. In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by all seven of her siblings, W. Carl Coleman, Kelly F. Coleman, C.W. Coleman, Coy Coleman (infant), Peggy C. Norton and Margaret C. Coats. Doris was predeceased by her husband of 59 years Willis C. Langdon in 2006. She was also predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Lydia S. Langdon, her grandson, Gabe Langdon and her great great-granddaughter, Amelia Teyer.
Doris was born and raised in Bunnlevel and lived on the family farm. She helped on the farm and worked at Erwin Mills for several years. Later she became a magistrate in Harnett County where she served the State of North Carolina for 25 years before retiring. She enjoyed helping people and enjoyed her job. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family. Doris enjoyed cooking, shopping, singing, dancing, and playing cards with her family and friends. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Bunnlevel.
Doris is survived by her son, Donald Ray Langdon and Cynthia Johnson of Lillington; daughter, Becky Sturgill and Johnny Bethune of Bunnlevel; daughter, Dianne L. Hatley and husband, Sammy Hatley of Auburndale, FL; five grandchildren, Will Langdon and wife Jennifer, Ashley Sturgill Smith and husband Jason, Meredith Sturgill Grober and husband Joe, Chad Hatley and wife Ashton, Chase Hatley and wife Jennifer; twelve great-grandchildren, Andrew Langdon, Kaitlyn Langdon, Madelyn Teyer, Mia Norris, Alex Smith, Olivia Smith, Wyatt Hatley, William Hatley, Jasper Hatley, Chance Hatley, Charlotte Hatley and Crew Hatley; great great-granddaughter, Lila Conkling; nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Harnett Memorial Park in Lillington with Rev. Jonathan Cook officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM Thursday at the home of Donald Ray Langdon, 965 Old US 421, Lillington, NC 27546. Friends and family are invited to visit O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Thursday from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM to sign the guest register book.
