Donnie "Buster" Stanley

Donnie “Buster” Stanley, 72, of Mercer, PA, passed away at home on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.  Buster was born in Erwin, North Carolina on November 30, 1951 to the late O. Melvin and Margie Lee (Bennett) Stanley.

Buster served for 21 years in the United States Army.  After his military career ended, he went on to become a corrections officer at the Mercer County Jail for over 20 years.

Surviving is his wife, Joann (Clayton) Stanley, whom he married on January 19, 1991, his son, Richard A. Stanley in Columbia, SC, two step-sons, Tom (Barbara) Clayton in York, PA and Todd (Karen) Clayton in Mercer, PA, one granddaughter, Breana Sheedy and five step-grandchildren, Cameron, Lindsey, Megan, Taylor and Hayley.  Buster is also survived by two sisters, Bonnie Stanley and Carolyn Stanley Cox both of Lillington, NC, two brothers, Walter (Liz) Stanley in Knightdale, NC and Ray (Anita) Stanley in Lillington, NC.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 PM Sunday, January 21, 2024 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at 2:00 PM in Westview Cemetery, Lillington.
