Donald Collins Obituary

Donald Benjamin Collins, 74, of Lillington, died Sunday, May 21, 2023 at his home in Lillington, NC. 

Donald was born in Harnett County to the late Arnold Benjamin Collins and Mayo Thomas Collins.  He was a graduate of Boone Trail High School Class of 1968.  Donald was a veteran of the US Army and worked as a carpenter for Harnett County Maintenance Department.  He also taught carpentry at Western Harnett High School and owned and operated Collins Carpentry for many years. He always had a joke or some type of comment that would keep you on your toes. Donald enjoyed feeding wildlife, and working with flowers and plants of all kinds.  He was a member of Lillingron Masonic Lodge #302.

Donald is survived by his wife of 56 years, Catherine McPhail Collins; sons, Donald B. Collins, Jr., and William Jason Collins (Bobbi Matthews); daughter, Catherine Jill Thomas (Michael); sisters, Carolyn Stallings (Bobby), Nancy Metz (Mike), and Brenda Johnson (C.H.); brothers, Tommy Collins (Frances), and Bundy Collins (Melanie); grandchildren, Trey, Ben, and Sydney; and his beloved cat, Smokey.   

The family will receive friends at the home of Jenny Allen, 5801 Old US 421, Lillington, NC 27546, at your convenience.  

Memorials may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church Happy Traveler’s Club.
