Diane Kelchner Obituary

Diane Marie Kelchner (formerly Mauney nee Bird) passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 after a short battle with cancer.

Diane was born on April 8, 1958 in Irvington, NJ.  She enlisted in the Air Force and served on active duty from 1980 until her retirement as a Tech Sgt. in 2000.  Her duty stations included McGuire AFB, NJ, Dyess AFB, TX, Ramstein Germany, Rhein Main AB Germany.  After returning from the Air Force, she continued to serve in her position with the Civil Service at Pope AFB in North Carolina until her retirement.  She was a life member of VFW Post 7677 in Medford, NJ.

Diane was predeceased by her parents and her son, Shawn Robert Kelchner.  She is survived by her husband, Donn R. Kelchner; her brother, Ron Bird; her daughter Melissa Mauney; son Christopher Mauney; daughter Jennifer (Kelchner) Thomas; her grandchildren Brenda, Marcus, Courtney, Joseph, Sheena, Amelia and Kathryn; and many, great grandchildren.

Following cremation, a graveside military service will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Blvd., Spring Lake, NC 283990. 

A procession of vehicles will leave from the funeral home to travel to Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery at 10:00 AM on the 30th.  Please be at the funeral home by 9:30 AM.
