Dean Monroe Martin, 83, of Harnett County, NC passed away April 12, 2026.  He was born on August 4, 1942 in Laclede County, MO to the late Francis and Monta Butcher Martin.  He is survived by his wife, Delores Burson Martin; sons, Todd Martin and Aron Martin; as well as many loving family members.

Dean was a professor of theology and philosophy at Campbell University and then at Baylor University from which he retired.  He was active in his church and served as deacon for many years.  Dean was also a devoted baseball fan and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals.  His family liked to tease that he was extremely frugal with his money (lovingly called him a “cheapskate”), but he was never frugal with his love and devotion.  He will be greatly missed but will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

 A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Buies Creek Baptist Church, 118 Main St, Buies Creek, NC 27506.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
