David Holloway Obituary

David Ben Holloway, 78, of Dunn, NC died January 22, 2024. He was born May 7, 1945, in Ithaca, NY, the son of the late Ben F. and Betty Halliday Holloway Miller. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margie Parker Stephens and a brother, Jerry Holloway. He grew up on a dairy farm in Lansing, NY. After attending King Ferry Central School and graduating in 1963 from Lansing Central, he worked for area farmers, Morse Chain in Ithaca, Bradley Brothers in Myers and Agway Petroleum.

At 23 years of age, he began his 45-year career working for several electrical utility companies beginning with New York State Electric & Gas at Milliken Station and as a Meter Reader and Lineman. After moving to North Carolina, he worked with ElectriCities of NC and was the Safety Director for 27 years for the Fayetteville Public Works Commission. Upon retirement, he transported classic & antique vehicles and new dump trucks for Godwin Manufacturing up & down the eastern United States.

His hobbies included deer hunting, raising rabbits for Laboratories and meat, built 2 new houses, and raced Late Model and Legend race cars throughout the Northeast and the southeast United States.

He is survived by his children, Deborah Talley & husband Gary of Sanford, Roy Holloway & wife Laura of Wake Forest, Dale Holloway & wife Leah of Clayton, step children, Denise Thornton of Raleigh and Michael Stephens & wife, Lauren of Dunn; grandchildren, Christopher Baker, Jeremy Ivey, Tyler Holloway, Morgan Holloway; step grandchildren, Trey Thornton, Brittany Thornton, Katelyn Stephens, Maddie Stephens, Tyson Stephens, Bristol Stephens; great grandchildren, Jeremy Ivey, Jr. and Maeve Thornton; sister, Gloria Bowman of Lansing, NY.

His body was donated to Campbell University in Buies Creek for research & medical students’ education. A memorial service will be held at Central Baptist Church, 6050 Plain View Highway, Dunn NC 28334, Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 2:00 PM with visitation 1 hour prior to service.
