Clair L. "Butch" Maschauer

Clair L. “Butch” Maschauer, 86, passed away September 7, 2025 at the Laurels of Glenn in Garner, NC.  He was born in Washington, DC, on June 26, 1939 to the late Charles Phillip Mashauer and Sylvia Lee Marshall Maschauer.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded by his wife, Carol Elaine Maschauer.

Butch enjoyed his life with his wife, Carol and his dogs, Jake and Otis.  He was a veteran of the US Navy and was employed with NASA, where he was proud of his involvement with the testing of the Hubble Telescope.  Butch had a passion for hunting and loved to laugh. 

Butch is survived by daughter, Cheryl Owens (Alvin Sullivan); grandson, Robert Dowgiallo (Erin Dowgiallo); great granddaughter, Rowen Dowgiallo; brother, Warren Maschauer (Pamela Maschauer); nieces, Maria Maschauer and Emily Maschauer (Matt Gentry); and great niece, Theodora Gentry. 

A celebration of life gathering with military honors will be held 11am Monday, September 15, 2025 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home, 1310 S. Main Street, Lillington, NC

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
