Mr. Charles Howard Hood, 82, of Lillington passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at his home. He was born December 22, 1938 in Harnett County, the son of the late Charles Herbert Hood and Cleo Eula Veal Hood. He worked for the Harnett County Board of Education in the Transportation Department as Cost Clerk/Accountant for 33 years and later in a similar position at Campbell University for 7 years. He was also a star catcher on the high school baseball team and was offered college scholarships to continue his playing career. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and the outdoors throughout his life. He had a lifelong love of sports and of watching his two children play their chosen sports throughout their high school and college years. He was proud of his grandchildren’s talents and was supportive of them in all their activities.
Sometime in the 1960s he found and purchased a 1954 Farmall Cub tractor, and he used it in his vegetable garden throughout his life. Tinkering with his old tractor, plowing his garden with it, and seeing his plants grow were some of his favorite activities.
