Charles P. Schantz Obituary
Charles Schantz, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 18, 2026, at Temple University Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born with a warm spirit and an unmistakable sense of humor, Charles was known for making those around him smile. He was a proud graduate of Temple University and honorably served in the United States Army Reserves.
Charles shared 54 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Lynne Schantz (née DiPietro). Together, they built a life centered on family, loyalty, and love.
He was a proud and loving father to his daughters, Cara Rivera and Christina Maedge, and a caring father-in-law to Mark Maedge. His greatest joy came from being a grandfather to his cherished granddaughters, Caralynne and Danica Rivera, who brought endless happiness to his life. He also adored his “fur-grandchildren,” Loulou, Biggie, and Gronk.
Charles was a longtime resident of Kearny, New Jersey, where he lived for 67 years before moving to Barnegat, New Jersey ten years ago. He was a well-known and respected business owner, proudly running Chaz & Co Hair Salon in Kearny for 15 years.
He had a deep love for life’s simple pleasures—traveling, spending time at the beach, and shopping brought him joy. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family.
Charles will be remembered for his kindness, his humor, and the love he gave so freely. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A graveside service will be held 3pm on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Harnett Memorial Park, Lillington, NC.
