Charles Ray Overman

Mr. Charles Ray Overman, 70, of Lillington, NC passed away March 5, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.  Ray was born in Siler City, NC and was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Houston Overman and Rosa Mae Jordan Overman as well as his first wife, Diane Gregory Overman. Ray is survived by his wife, Jane Dotson Overman, children, Michelle Overman, Chris Overman, Daphne Helton (David Rueda), Jason Helton, Randy Helton (Amanda Thornton), grandchildren, Charles Kennedy (Sara), Samantha Rollins (Joey), Cole and Hailey Thompson and Nicholas and Shawn Wilkerson, great grandchild, Addie Rollins, sister, Mary Lee Savage (Tommy), brothers, Gary Overman (Susan) and Johnny Overman (Carolyn) and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and very special friends.

Ray was an Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War.  Ray was a truck driver, last working for PBM Graphics in Research Triangle Park.  He loved racing and spent many years go-kart racing and later was a member of Southern Ground Pounders (VA Oldtimers).  Ray was most recently a member of The Piedmont Classic Chevy Club for many years, having owned a 1971 Nova.  

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 19 from 2 PM - 3PM at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home, a memorial service will follow at 3PM.
