Charles Earl Gray

Charles “Charlie” Earl Gray, 88, of Lillington passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Central Harnett Hospital.  He was born October 21, 1936 in Washington County, Vermont to the late Percy and Olivia Gray.  He is preceded in death by wife, Brenda Gray; and son, Forrest Gray.

Charlie is survived by his son, Gregory Hedges; daughters, Darcy Copeland, Shelly Burton, Susanne Gray, Lori Gray, and Joy Hedges.

Charlie was a mechanic and was the proud owner of Charlie’s Repair Shop in Northfield, Vermont and was also employed at Middlesex Fire Equipment Company where he fabricated fire trucks and equipment.  Charlie always spoke fondly of the time he was employed with Dickersons in Florida.  Charlie was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War era.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 1pm-3pm at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home, 1310 S. Main Street, Lillington, NC.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice in Charlie’s memory.
