Capt(Ret.)Colon Jackson, Jr. Obituary

Captain, U.S. Navy (Retired) Colon Stonewall Jackson, Jr., 93, of Lillington, NC passed away Wednesday August 4, 2021, at his residence with his loving wife Johnnie by his side.

He was born May 24,1928 in Cary, North Carolina to the late Pearl Futrell Jackson and Colon Stonewall Jackson, Sr. Capt. Jackson was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Allen Jackson in 1997.

Dr. Jackson graduated from Wake Forest, Southeastern Seminary, Webster University, and Columbia Theological Seminary.  He was a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, a Diplomat in the American Psychotherapy Association, and a member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors.

Capt. Jackson spent his life as a servant of the Lord. He served his country honorably as a chaplain in the United States Navy. Following his retirement from military service, Colon would go on to serve as Pastor to churches across North Carolina. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed his trips to Europe specifically Germany multiple times. Colon enjoyed backyard bird watching and working in his yard. Colon also loved to read, expand his religious studies, and listen to Christian music. He loved the beach where he found a place of solace and prayer. Colon took his call to ministry seriously. He has now completed his earthly sojourn and gone home.

Colon is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Johnnie Lamm Jackson; his daughter, Gayle Jackson Wishon (Tim); his son, John Mark Jackson; his stepdaughter, Mary Mitchell Campbell; his stepson, John Leslie Campbell (Erin); his granddaughters, Elizabeth Wishon, Sarah Jackson, Katherine Jackson; his grandson, Caleb Wishon; his step-granddaughters, Katherine Campbell, Elizabeth Campbell, and Charlotte Campbell; his sister, Audrey Bunch; his beloved dog and companion, Charlie Deacon Jackson; his dear friend and caregiver, Kaye McKoy.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday August 10 at Noon at Clemmons First Baptist Church in Clemmons, NC with Pastor Ed Beddingfield officiating. Military honors will be rendered following the committal service. A memorial service will be held in Buies Creek at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in the name of Dr. Colon Jackson and Johnnie Lamm Jackson endowed Divinity School Scholarship at P.O. Drawer 4050 Buies Creek, NC 27506 or to Memorial Baptist Church at 271 Leslie Campbell Ave, Buies Creek, NC 27506.
