CW3 Benny Lyle Reynolds, Jr., age 52, of Angier passed away Monday, December 11, 2023. He was born in Decatur, IL, the son of the late Benny Lyle Reynolds, Sr. and Cheryl Oakes Lercher. Benny proudly served in the U.S. Army and medically retired after 22 years of service. He served a combat tour in Somalia, peacekeeping tour in Bosnia, and a combat tour during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was proud of the numerous medals he received during his service. During his military service, he created a strong military family that continued to support him through the years.
Benny loved to fish and work on classic cars. He enjoyed collecting things that reminded him of his family and life experiences. Benny never ended a day without his midnight snacky snack. He was a gun enthusiast who enjoyed shooting on the range. Benny traveled to many places and went on multiple cruises. One of his favorite destinations was back home to visit family and pick up Monicals pizza. He had a love for music and went to many concerts. Benny enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends.
Benny is survived by his wife, Heather Reynolds; daughters, Shelby Lynn Reynolds, Clarissa Marie Reynolds, Emily Elizabeth Reynolds; granddaughter, Elaina Drew Godwin; host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-2:45 PM Saturday, December 16, 2023, at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home and other times this week at the home of Mr. Reynolds. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with military honors. Please come as you are as Benny would want things casual and upbeat.
