Brenda Johnson

Mrs. Brenda Carol Williford Johnson, 75, of Fuquay-Varina passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Windsor Point in Fuquay-Varina.

She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Edward and Lillian Betts Williford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda Carol Martin and grandson, Jonathan Bruce Martin.

Brenda was a member of Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church. She retired from NC State University’s Office of Residence Life after many years of service. The retirement years have been spent enjoying family and grandchildren. She loved horses and animals in general. Brenda dedicated many years of her life to the care of horses and promoted the sport of horse shows with others in the community including 4H. She overcame many obstacles during her life that were out of her control. Brenda used those obstacles to inspire all those who knew her. She lived by example and encouraged many others who faced obstacles as she did to move forward.  

Brenda is survived by her husband, Ronald B. Johnson of Fuquay-Varina; 2 grandchildren, Ryan Martin and Ashley Martin both of Benson; 2 sisters, Kathryn Milton and husband Van of Fuquay-Varina and Annette Ragan of Fuquay-Varina; brother, Carl Williford of Fuquay-Varina; nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Westview Cemetery, 2264 US 421 N, Lillington, NC 27546 with Rev. Paul G. Roberts officiating. Casual dress is encouraged for those attending the graveside service.
