Bessie Coats Barefoot

Mrs. Bessie Coats Barefoot, 72, of Lillington sadly left us Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at her home. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Starling and Lottie Parker Coats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Mable Jackson, Ella Mae Wells, Kathy Ruffin, Mary McLeod; brothers, Raymond Coats, Junior Coats, Ricky Coats.

Bessie loved her family and enjoyed fishing. She loved listening to country music, especially Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and Patty Loveless.

Bessie is survived by her husband, Hubert Owen Barefoot of the home; children, Ronnie Barefoot, Rhonda Lowery, and Charlotte Barefoot; grandchildren, Ronnie Barefoot, Jr., Melisa Barefoot, Laylah Barefoot, Nathan Lowery, and Brandon Lowery; sister, Gladys Barefoot; brother, Charles Coats; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 15, 2023, at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, Monday January 16, 2023, at the Pentecost Worship Center in Lillington with Pastor Alex Dorman officiating. Burial will follow in Harnett Devotional Gardens in Dunn.
