Bernard Charles Jelinek, 87, of Lillington, passed away, Friday, August 18, 2023 at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington, NC.
Bernard was born December 18, 1935 in Brainard, NE to the late Anton John Jelinek and Alma Rose Hobza Jelinek. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving on the USS Valley Forge. He worked as a construction superintendent with Nello Teer and Faulkner Construction Companies, retiring with over 40 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Jelinek; and daughter-in-law, Nonie Jelinek.
Bernard is survived by his wife, Clara Lanier Jelinek; daughter, Barbara Jelinek; son, Bernie Jelinek; brothers, James Jelinek (Bernadette), Lumir Jelinek (Janice), and Thomas Jelinek (Joyce); sister-in-law, Donna Jelinek; grandson, R.B. Eubanks (Christy); and great granddaughters, Samantha and Sydney; and special niece, Laura James (Royce); great nephews, Michael James (Susan), Daniel James (Anastasia), Stephen Unti; great nieces, Amanda Houts (Jason), and Emily Taylor (Calvin); and eleven great-great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 1310 South Main St., Lillington, NC 27546 with Shirley Bain officiating. The family will receive friends 6pm – 8pm Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at the funeral home, entombment will follow the service at Westview Cemetery.
