Barbara Howard Fore

Barbara Elaine Howard Fore 83, passed away at her home in Christian Light on Sunday, February 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Barbara was born September 6, 1941 in Harnett County to the late James Wilson Howard and Mary Jane Sloan Howard. Barbara had worked many years for Lufkin in Apex but her greatest joy was being with her husband and family and loved to serve them. She was the wife of a retired tobacco farmer and understood the value of hard work. She loved to garden and was a wonderful cook. She is well known for her fruit cake and chicken salad. Several friends in the community have mentioned how she made the best. She paid attention to detail hence is why her coconut bon bons and fudge were always perfect.

She loved to serve others when her health would allow and enjoyed any opportunity that meant spending time with her siblings and other family members. She was a silent cheerleader who loved to get great reports on how each family member was doing.

Barbara was a member of the Christian Light Church and understood the principle of loving your neighbor as she loved serving her community before her health declined through the years.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill; infant daughter Kimberly Elaine, son-in-law Gary Drew, brothers: Curtis Howard and Johnny Benson, and sister Imogene Goad and her beloved poodle Miss B.

She is survived by her son, James Christopher “Chris” (Tina), daughter Pamela Jane Drew, grandchildren, Brian Jackson, Zack Fore (Vicki), Courtney Hill (Daniel), Ashley Hardison, Landon Whitlow and Cole Turner (Amy) and nine great grandchildren, sisters; Janet Howard, Sandra Benson, Kay Kearney (Alan), brothers; Tony Howard (Bonnie) and Stevie Howard.

A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 2pm at Christian Light Church. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 12:30-1:45pm. The burial will follow immediately afterwards.
