Barbara Ann Dickens Holder, 77, peacefully entered God’s Kingdom on Friday March 29, 2024 while at home surrounded by family. She gracefully fought a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She is survived by husband of 58 years, James Holder, daughter, Dana Sherman, grandson, Christopher, and granddaughter, Anna, all of Mamers; brother Alvin Dickens and wife, Barbara Jean, of Broadway; sisters Shirley Black and Vonnie Dickens of Lillington, and sister-in-law Diane Dickens of Mamers. She was predeceased by parents George and Wilda Dickens, brother Gene Dickens, and niece Gena Dickens all of Mamers, brother-in law and sister-in-law Harry and Peggy Holder, and sister-in law Libby Currin all of Lillington.
She was employed for many years by the now defunct textile company Koury Company in Sanford, NC, and afterwards became self-employed by manufacturing household goods. But her main emphasis in life was her spirituality. A devout Christian, she faithfully devoted and dedicated her time to her church, Woodside United Methodist Church in Mamers. Her spirit and fellowship lifted everyone in the congregation, and her absence leaves a great void at Woodside.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, April 1st, 2024 at Woodside United Methodist Church, 5515 Spring Hill Church Rd, Lillington, NC 27546, with Reverend Wayne O'Quinn and Kent Miller officiating. Burial will follow the service at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 PM to 2 PM at the church.
Funeral arrangements are being arranged by O’Quinn-Peebles-Philips Funeral Home and Crematory. Lillington, NC. Condolences can be submitted to https://www.oppfh.com
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to Woodside United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 496, Mamers, NC 27562.
