Annie Jean (Smith) Moore

Annie Jean Smith Moore, 88, of Sanford, passed away, Monday, January 1, 2024 at her home in Sanford, NC.

Annie was born April 27, 1935 in Wake County, NC, and grew up in Angier and Buies Creek, to the late Sherrill and Katie Smith.  She was employed with Federal Spinning, retiring with over 20 years of service.  Annie enjoyed gardening and loved flowers and plants of all kinds.   

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Moore, Sr.; sons, Johnny Smith, and R.L. Moore, Jr.; daughter, Ruby Klauka; and grandson, Jason Boyd; brothers, Charlie Smith, and Billy Smith; and her sister, Shirley.    

Annie is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Ward (Victor), Mary Barbour (David), Alma Crews; sons, Odell Patterson (Anne), Terry Patterson (Gwen), Ronnie Moore, Sr., Robin Moore, Sr. (Pam), Willie Moore; daughter-in-law, Zippy Moore; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and her special dog companion, “Baby”.

A memorial service will be held at 10am Thursday, January 4, 2024 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 1310 S. Main St., Lillington, NC 27546 with Rev. Jim Boyte officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  A private graveside service will be held at Memorial Cemetery in Dunn, NC at a later date.
