Anna Pulley Barbour

Anna Jean Pulley Barbour (78) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at SECU Bryan Hospice House in Pittsboro, North Carolina.

 Born February 3rd, 1943, Anna was preceded in death by her Father, Archie Pulley, her Mother, Winnie Pulley, and long time beau Steve Pendergraph.  Anna is survived by her sisters Lena Giffe (James) and Shirley Bullard, her niece Joy Wilson (Brad), and nephews Mike Giffe, Billy Giffe, Ricky Giffe, and Baccuhus Carver (Molly Ringworm); her grandniece Elizabeth Cooper, and great grandniece Isabella Rutkowski and great grandnephew Gavin Cooper.

A member of Lillington Baptist Church, Anna was known for her gifts of handmade beaded angels and knitted items which she shared freely (& often) with family, friends, and any person she met at anytime, anywhere.  Anna moved her church membership to Lillington Baptist late in life when she came here, and made fast friends with many members of the congregation.  Her personal ministry outreach included the ‘morning crew’ at Hardee’s of Lillington where she held forth daily, as well as her fellow knitting circle friends, whom she adored, especially when they snuck across the river to BoJangles.  So long as sweet tea could be had, Anna was fairly contented.

Anna had her hand in raising many children of the family while working as a seamstress and later as an assistant at the Gingerbread Academy in Fuquay-Varina while living as a member of the Baptist Grove community.  A farm girl at heart, she set her fair share of  tobacco plants which likely happened bare footed.

The family is enamored with the membership of Lillington Baptist Church for their active participation in Anna’s life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Anna’s memory to Lillington Baptist Church and SECU Bryan Hospice House of Pittsboro.  Visitation and services are scheduled for Friday, June 25th at 10:00 (service at 11:00) at Lillington Baptist Church, followed by lunch, with interment at Bells Church Cemetery at 3:00, 686-932 Horton’s Pond Road, Apex, North Carolina.  The family welcomes friends to the home of Shirley Bullard, 2370 Adcock Road, Lillington - not just this week, but anytime you’d like to come by.  We’d love to catch up.
