Anita Louise Stinnett

Anita Louise Stinnett, 65, of Garner, passed away, Thursday, May 9, 2024 at her home in Garner, N.C. surrounded by family.

Anita was born July 16, 1958 in Euclid, OH to the late William J Scharlau and Rosemarie L. Wentworth.

She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Ben Stinnett.

Anita is survived by her sister Karen Goff (Jamie), Bill Scharlau, Lora Lehr (Charlie); 10 nieces and nephews Rachel (Stephen), James Robert, Danielle, Eric (Joyce), Adam (Lindsay), Linda, Melissa (Paul), Eddie, Brianna, Rachael and 16 great nieces/nephews and many dear friends.

Anita pursued a career in software computing but her passion was for the children of Africa which led her to work with several organizations in Swaziland and Kenya. Anita was adventurous and always had a desire to see the world her Heavenly Father created; so every opportunity she had she took it. She wasn’t shy about inviting Family/Friends to join in the adventure of 39 Countries. Besides travel she loved to quilt, cook, and was an avid scuba diver with Family and Friends.

Anita was an enthusiastic football fan and cooking show critique; resulting in her trying new recipes on Family, Friends and Neighbors. Her quilts, biscuits & gravy, and bread will warm our hearts for many years to come.

A celebration of Anita’s life service will be held at 1pm Saturday, June 8, 2024 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home, 1310 S. Main St., Lillington, NC 27546 with Dr. Stephen Robbins officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
