Allen Brown III Obituary

Allen Ray Brown III, 37, of Erwin NC, passed away Wednesday October 13, 2021.

He was born November 13, 1983, in Fredericksburg, VA to the late Patricia “Patt” Watts Brown and Allen Ray Brown Jr. In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by his grandfather, Allen Ray Brown Sr., and his grandmother, Odessa R. Caldwell.

Allen attended South Brunswick High School in Southport NC, graduating with the class of 2002. He enjoyed playing on the high school basketball team; passing his love of sports on to his sons by coaching Timothy in basketball and Allen Ray in soccer. Allen loved traveling to the beach where he enjoyed surfing, fishing, and any activity that took place on the water. He often would hold cookouts for friends and family, where he shared his passion for grilling and smoking BBQ.

Allen loved all things automotive and had a need for speed from a young age. From working on go carts during his youth to pursuing a career as a mechanic, Allen had a true talent for fixing cars and would use his talents to help others repair their vehicles. He enjoyed racing, modifying cars, big engines, and loud pipes. Allen also enjoyed four wheeling and any excuse to put tires in the mud.

Most of all, Allen cherished the memories he shared with his sons, family, and friends. He truly loved people and took time to get to know each person he befriended. Allen was a beloved and fun uncle who believed in spoiling his nieces and nephews. He loved helping others and stood up for what was right. The sky was truly the limit for Allen; his larger-than-life personality and humor will be missed by all who knew him.

Allen is survived by his sons, Allen Ray Brown IV and Timothy Reeves of Erwin; his sister, Amanda Carey and husband Gordon of Navarre, FL; his grandmother, Peggy Brown of Erwin; the mother of his children, Jessica Reeves; his nieces, Katrina and Natalie Carey; his nephews, Tyler and Jacob “Jake” Carey; his aunts, Karen Urick and Brenda Walker; his uncles, Jimmy Brown and wife Christine, Bruce Brown and wife Sylvia, and Robbie Caldwell; and several cousins including Bruce and Shane Osnoe.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Saturday October 23 at O’Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home, 1310 S. Main Street in Lillington, NC. A memorial service will follow the visitation in the funeral home chapel at 2PM.

In accordance with current North Carolina COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home requests that everyone in attendance practice social distancing and wear a face covering.
