Alex Raymond Bayles, 77, of Lillington, exchanged earth for heaven, Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at his home in Lillington, NC.
Alex was born January 14, 1946 in Harnett County to the late Walter Raymond Bayles and Mildred Mae Worrells Bayles.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Bayles and Marshall Bayles.
Alex is survived by his wife, Rev. Wanda Bayles; daughters, Colleen Bayles Brueck and husband, John, Tammy Bayles Lawson and husband, Rick, Pat Stone-Smith, Rita Howington and husband, Allen, and Anita Stone; sisters, Linda Salmon, and Eloise Easter and husband, Woody; grandchildren, Billy Hardison (Amy), Crystal Corbett (Ryan), Candace Smith, Christopher Thomas, Kayleigh Brueck McLaren (Brandon), John Brueck, Connor Lawson (Ashley), Alex Lawson; and eleven great grandchildren; and his faithful companion, Buddy “the wonder dog”.
Alex was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all. He always had a big, beautiful smile, never met a stranger, never complained, and would always go above and beyond for those in need. Alex exemplified the image of a rugged southern gentleman. He was a tractor restoration master and tire extraordinaire. Alex was the manager of Womble Tire Services, retiring with over 30 years of service.
A funeral service will be held 2pm Saturday, May 6, 2023 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, Lillington, NC 27546 with Rev. Alex Dorman officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Pentecost Worship Center Cemetery in Lillington. Please join the family following the burial for a reception at the Atkins House, 111 West Ivey Street in Lillington. The family will receive friends 6pm-8pm Friday, May 5, 2023 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home, 1310 S. Main St., Lillington, NC 27546.
