A.C. Morrison, Jr.

Mr. Alex Craven “A.C.” Morrison, Jr., 86, of Lillington passed away Sunday May 29, 2022 at his home. He was born in Harnett County, the son of the late Alex Craven Morrison, Sr. and Ethel Harrington Morrison. In addition to his parents, A.C. was preceded in death by his brother, Harrington Morrison; sisters, Minnie Morrison Capps and husband Leon; Eula Morrison.

A.C. lived his life by very simple principles. He had a profound love of family, a tireless work ethic, and a resolute Christian faith.  In 1953 he married Lenora Ann Holder and they set about their own journey of life. 

A.C. and Lenora were dedicated to each other. They knew their strength together could endure any challenge. A.C. took great pride in his family. He was a loving husband, devoted father and an amazing grandfather. 

A.C. was characterized by his wisdom, determination, strength and good nature. He knew at an early age what he wanted to do, and he harnessed everything to realize his dreams.  His passion was farming.  A.C.’s work ethic was widely known and central to his identity. He loved growing tobacco and the pursuit of improving his farm year after year. A.C. embodied all of the traits that give people hope. A.C. was a thoughtful, hardworking farmer .

He was a man with a deep and solemn Christian faith. He was a lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church and he loved his church and his church family. He was a leader, and his faith acted as a compass for his daily life. He was honest, upright and fair. To him, his word was his bond. He lived a life of inspiration and integrity.

A.C. is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lenora Holder Morrison of the home; daughter, Teresa Salmon and husband, Curtis of Lillington; son, Randy Morrison and wife, Jeana of Lillington; 4 grandchildren, Brad Salmon and wife Rebecca, Stephen Salmon and wife Elisa, Alec Morrison and Gracie Morrison; 3 great grandchildren, Abilene, Poe and Blythe Salmon; sister, Hazel Morrison of Lillington; sister-in-law, Dorothy Morrison of Lillington; nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers with Rev. Rick Beacham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.
