Mrs. Yvonne Byrd McPhail, 85, of Buies Creek, formerly of Bunnlevel, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Richard Paul Byrd and Pauline Byrd. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey McPhail. Yvonne enjoyed her career as a fifth grade teacher in Graham, Mt. Olive and Ft. Bragg Schools. She was a lifelong member of Bunnlevel Presbyterian Church in Bunnlevel, NC. Yvonne was full of joy and love. She lived her life to the fullest up until her final day. Yvonne never met a stranger. Her friendly, warm and loving spirit was endearing and contagious. She loved her family and her friends with all her heart. Her legacy will live on through the love she shared with others.

Funeral service will be 3:30 PM Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Bunnlevel Presbyterian Church with Rev. Joanne Lee and Rev. Grover Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in Bunnlevel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00-3:30 PM and other times at the home of Hugh and Susan Surles.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan McPhail Surles and husband Hugh of Buies Creek, granddaughter, Molly Surles of Buies Creek, several cousins and many special friends.
