Mr. William Carlton Lassiter, Jr., 88, of Lillington passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the VA Nursing Home in Fayetteville. He was born in Moore County on June 4, 1928, the son of the late William Carlton Lassiter, Sr. and Mary Desma Ballard Lassiter. Carlton was a US Army veteran during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of VFW Post 6722 in Lillington where he enjoyed playing cards. He was co-owner/operator of five Piggly Wiggly stores in the local area. Carlton attended Lillington Baptist Church where he was a member of the Simmons Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dixie Lewis and husband, Everette Lewis; brothers, Robert Lassiter, Sr. and wife Juanita Lassiter and Glenn Lassiter, Sr. Carlton was loving husband, father and granddaddy.

Carlton is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Hussey Lassiter of the home; 3 daughters, Debbie Lassiter of Aberdeen, Sandra Lassiter McLamb of Four Oaks and Patricia Lassiter Brown and husband, V.C. Brown of Lillington; 4 grandchildren, Brian McLamb, Lauren McLamb, Jacob Brown and Heather Brown; brother, Harold Lassiter, Sr. and wife Carolyn of Lillington and sister-in-law, Jimmie-Ann Lassiter of Pinehurst.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Lillington Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Selman officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 1:00-2:00 PM and other times at the home.
