William Martin "Bud" Bethune, 89, of Bunnlevel, passed away early Monday, July 2, 2018.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11 am at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Phil Addison presiding. The burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Bud was a lifelong member of Friendship Baptist Church in Bunnlevel. He worked for the Department of Transportation for 35 years. He also ran and operated several businesses and he was lovingly known as the unofficial "Mayor of Bunnlevel".

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Gray Bethune; and daughter, Donna Bethune Murray.

He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Bethune Dawson and husband Donald of Fayetteville; grandsons, Toby and Joseph Beamon; granddaughters, Vivian Radford, Lydia Hyer, and Meghan Engle; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, July 5th, from 6 to 8 pm at O'Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home in Lillington.
