Mr. William Douglas "Doug" Babb, 74, of Lillington passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. He was born in Harnett County, the son of the late Alvis Layton and Vera Hall Babb. Doug was a US Army veteran and retired from Kelly Springfield (Goodyear) after 17 years. He enjoyed going to yard sales, cheering for UNC, watching NASCAR racing, westerns and classic cars. He truly cherished his grandkids, Bug and Sissy.

Doug is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ruby Pearce Babb of the home; son, Danny Babb and wife, Lorie of Lillington; 2 grandchildren, Layton and Elizabeth Babb; brother, Glenn Babb and wife, Carol of Woodbridge, VA; sister, Janice Johnson and husband, John of Sanford; several nieces and nephews and his faithful fur babies, Chewy and Cosmo.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Chapel with Rev. Charles Royal, Rev. Roy McLamb and Lenny Logan officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery in Lillington. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 11:00 AM– 1:00 PM and other times at the home.
