Mr. Walter Frank Wooten, 87, of Lillington, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.

Frank was born June 22, 1933, in Edgecombe County, NC to the late Curtis and Nannie Wooten.  He served in the US Air Force for four years before settling in the Lillington area.  He worked primarily in the textile industry before retiring.

Frank was always faithfully active in church life.  He served at Eagles Baptist Church before joining Lillington Baptist Church, where he worshipped for over 50 years.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 11 am at Westview Cemetery with Military Honors.  Rev. Daniel Selman will be presiding.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Carole Jackson Wooten; and his brother, William Allen Wooten.

He is survived by his daughter, Laura Lee Byrd and husband Efrem of Coats; brother, Julius Wooten and wife Frances of Virginia Beach; sister, Mary Elizabeth Phillips and husband Bob of Israel; and sister-in-law, Jackie Wooten of Kinston.

Friends are invited to visit O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home on Sunday, March 14, 2021 between the hours of 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM to pay their respects to Mr. Wooten. The family will not be present during this time.
