Walter Charles Davis, 76 of Spring Lake died Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at his sisters house surrounded by his children and family.

Walter was known most for helping others. He enjoyed going to church and splitting wood.

Walter was born May 23, 1938 in Theresa NY to the late Emerson Sr. and Ann Elizabeth Davis. Walter was preceded in death by his wife, April Davis; 2 brothers, Emerson "Bill" and Peter Davis; and a sister, Ann Davis.

A graveside service will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday at Westview Cemetery with Rev. Ricky Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:45 A.M.-12:45 P.M. at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home.

Walter is survived by 4 sons, Walter H.L. Davis of LaFargeville NY, Michael A. Davis of Watertown NY, Stephen J. Davis and wife Eileen of Dunn and Samuel Lee Davis of Spring Lake; 2 daughters, Lisann M. Davis Babcock and husband Jeff and Debra L. Davis Groff both of Watertown NY; his first wife, Sally Morris Rice of Watertown NY; a sister, Myrtle Davis Thatcher and husband Glen of Lillington; a brother, Donald E. Davis and wife Betty of Parish NY; 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Transitions Hospice Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh NC 27607 or any cancer society.
