Mr. Waldo Buchanan, 71, of Broadway passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Westfield Rehab and Health Center in Sanford. He was born in Harnett County, the son of the late Leon and Hazel Lee Harrington Buchanan. Mr. Buchanan was preceded in death by his brother, Biddle Buchanan. He was known for his story-telling, sense of humor and his wonderful smile. He worked as a tobacco farmer and also with Central Carolina Tire Disposal as a truck driver for over 20 years. Mr. Buchanan was a member of Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Broadway. He will be missed by his family and all of the children that called him "Papa."

Graveside service will be 3:00 PM Friday, January 31, 2014 at Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Broadway with Rev. Doug Houston officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 2:00-3:00PM and other times at the home. The family will receive friends Tuesday at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home from 4:30-6:30PM.

Mr. Buchanan is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lida Buchanan of the home, 2 daughters, Melissa Godfrey and husband Glenn of Sanford, Tammy Wilson and husband Jed of Bunnlevel, son, Tim Buchanan and wife Kim of Broadway, 4 grandchildren, Trey Wilson, Asa Godfrey, Chastity Wilson and Brooke Godfrey, great-granddaughter, Ambria Wilson, sister, Mess Freeman of Broadway.
