Virginia L. Simmons, 92 of Lillington passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015 at her home.

Virginia was born June 11. 1922 in Hoke Co. to the late Cecil Hayes and Verna Dezerne Lindley. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband William Tory "W.T." Simmons, Jr.

Until she began to decline in health she was an active member in the Lillington United Methodist Church and the Lillington Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening, ceramic crafts, knitting, and trips to the beach.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Lillington United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Harnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 Tuesday at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Virginia is survived by a daughter, Marsha Bethune of Lillington; a son, Jeffrey Simmons and wife Janet of Durham; 3 grandchildren, Jonathan Bethune and wife Billie of Sanford, Justin Bethune of Lillington and Jeremy Simmons of Cape Cartaret; 1 great grandson, Kash Bethune of Sanford; and her beloved dog, Cocoa.
